How do off-grid solar generators work?

Solar panels capture sunlight and convert it into electricity, which is then stored in batteries. An inverter converts the stored DC power into 240v AC power. You can use the power as it is generated, with any excess going to the battery for use overnight or when peak demand exceeds the amount that is being generated.

Our range is modular and customised to build a system that suits your power or pumping needs. Each model number represents the number of panels, the type and number of batteries, pump size and type (where fitted)and the inverter that is used to make up the generator.

What size system do I need?

Each situation is different, and we’ll work with you to assess your individual power or pumping needs. As a rough guide, more panels mean more generated power, and more batteries means more stored power. It depends on your usage pattern and time of use as well as the power rating of your equipment or appliances.

RSPS smart pumps come in different sizes to suit the height (or head) the water needs to be pumped up or along, and the quantity or volume of water that is required per minute or hour.

How long do off-grid solar systems typically last?

RSPS solar generators are designed for longevity and would likely out-live a fuel generator several times over before needing significant maintenance or replacement! Solar panels  last many years, while batteries typically need replacement every 5-15 years, depending on the type and usage. Inverters contain more complex circuits and  moving parts, but in most instances will last at least 5 years.

Remember, even if some parts need replacement, you will have been receiving free solar power for years, which should be offset against any costs if comparing to alternatives.

Can off-grid solar systems be expanded if energy needs increase?

Yes, our off-grid solar systems are scalable. You can add more solar panels and increase battery capacity as your energy needs grow, making them a flexible solution for remote locations.
